Explore the New LEGO Ideas JAWS Set 21350: A Must-Have for Shark Lovers

by Chris Roger 2024-07-11

The LEGO Company recently released the 58th LEGO Ideas series set, JAWS. This set will be released to LEGO Insiders on August 3, 2024, and to everyone on August 6, 2024, priced at €149.99 / £129.99 / $149.99. It can be purchased on the official LEGO website and LEGO Store.

This set was designed by LEGO fan designer Johnny Campbell and is themed after the 1975 movie JAWS. There are 1497 pieces in total, including 3 minifigures, namely police Chief Martin Brody, marine biologist Matt Hooper and sailor Sam Quint. There is also an Orca boat and a huge shark. The placement of the shark and minifigures together brings out the hugeness of the shark. From the front, I think the shark’s head is well designed, especially the eyes.

The overall size of the set is measuring 59 cm (23 inches) wide, and 35 cm (14 inches) tall. The shark can be displayed alone or placed with the Orca boat on a sea-shaped base to show the shark attacking the Orca boat. , the base also comes with a tile with Chief Brody’s famous line “You need a bigger ship”, but I feel like you need a bigger space to place the ship, then I feel like you could use a shark of the lower body to make delicious sashimi.

This photo shows the shark very close to Martin Brody. At this point, I really want to tell Martin Brody to run away! Otherwise you will become shark fodder!

The set also features the iconic Orca boat, with a detailed cabin with a removable roof, an adjustable boom and rigging, the cabin is small inside with steering wheel, table, seats and can still accommodate 3 minifigures, you see they are very happy to sit there Together, plus lots of recognisable accessories, such as a revolver, compass, fishing rod, harpoon, spear, and the yellow barrels that were pivotal to the movie plot.

Fan designer Johnny Campbell once revealed JAWS is my favourite movie of all-time, so I really wanted to recreate it in LEGO bricks. LEGO building has always been a part of my life in some shape or form but in order to get all of the finer details, I actually freeze-framed JAWS as I watched it so that I could catch a glimpse of the finer details taking notes as I went along.

It is just mind-blowing that my design is now an official LEGO set. I can’t wait to stand in a LEGO shop looking at the shelves and seeing a set that I have been involved with and watching someone buying it. I think this passage can Use it as a reference for designing MOC.

To celebrate the launch of this LEGO set, the LEGO Group, in partnership with Universal Products & Experiences, has created the first ever summer ‘’brick-buster’’ mini-film, ‘’AWS…in a Jiffy’’,released on July 4, 2024,in homage to the original movie theatrical release date, although the mini-film is only 90 seconds long, it showcases the film’s most popular scenes and features a surprising cameo from LEGO minifigures, intended by director Steven Spielberg It appeared in an unexpected way and gave everyone a big surprise.

This collaboration marks a unique blend of classic cinema and LEGO creativity, making it a must-have for both LEGO enthusiasts and JAWS fans alike. The intricate details and homage to the film’s legacy ensure that this set will be a treasured piece in any collection. The meticulous design work captures the essence of the 1975 classic, from the menacing look of the shark to the faithful recreation of the Orca boat.

Each minifigure is crafted to reflect the iconic characters, bringing the suspense and thrill of the original film to life. The set also includes numerous Easter eggs and references that fans of the movie will appreciate, adding an extra layer of enjoyment.

Whether displayed as a centerpiece or used in imaginative play, this set offers endless possibilities and serves as a testament to the enduring impact of JAWS on popular culture. The collaboration between LEGO and Universal Products & Experiences highlights the innovative ways in which beloved stories can be reimagined, offering fans new ways to engage with their favorite narratives.

Review : LEGO 76245 Ghost Rider Mech & Bike

by Chris Roger 2024-07-07

The LEGO set I want to introduce today is LEGO 76245 Ghost Rider Mech & Bike. It contains a Ghost Rider figure, a mech that the minifigure can drive, and a motorcycle that the mech can ride. I think the flaming hair style of the Ghost Rider is cool, and it also includes mech and motorcycle.

Table of Contents

  1. Set information
  2. The Minifigures
  3. The Completed Model
  4. LEGO 76245 pros
  5. LEGO 76245 cons
  6. LEGO 76245 simple modification
  7. Conclusion

Set information

  • Set Number:76245
  • Set Name:Ghost Rider Mech & Bike
  • Minifigures: 1
  • Pieces: 264
  • Retail Price:US$34.99
  • Theme:Marvel Super Heroes
  • Release Date: 1 January 2023

The Minifigures

Ghost Rider’s hair and head are connected together and cannot be detached, which surprised me a bit. I originally wanted to use his hair on other LEGO figures. The printed body has iron chains on the front and extends to the back. There are flames burning inside the clothes, and the shape is more cartoon-style, probably because the age setting of this suit is seven years and above.

The Completed Model

The body of the mech is made of Cockpit. New mech all use this type of building blocks. The bottom of the mech uses Clip to connect to the motorcycle. The hands and feet use Bent to make the posture of the mech’s hands and feet more natural. The hands are not designed to hold things. The iron chains and Quadruple Convex Pyramid decorations on the mech and the overall color match the image of Ghost Rider.

The pattern on the front of the motorcycle is printed, not a sticker. The tires have a Bar Handle on the motorcycle seat that can be connected to the mech to prevent the mech from falling off easily. The tires on the motorcycle are decorated with Trans-Orange Technic Wedge Belt Wheel (Pulley) to make the tires look like flames are burning. The design behind the wheel prevents the motorcycle fender from touching the rear wheel, and the flame from the exhaust pipe enhances the image of the motorcycle flame burning.

The flame of the exhaust pipe can also be used in this way, good children should not learn from it.

Finally, Ghost Rider drives a mech and rides a motorcycle. The mech’s mobility is limited. When riding a motorcycle, the body will tilt backwards and the hand cannot hold the motorcycle handle. It can only be said that the compatibility between mech and motorcycle is not very good.

LEGO 76245 pros

  • This set has both a mech and a motorcycle
  • The mech and motorcycle are very Ghost Rider style
  • Ghost Rider’s Trans-Orange Flaming Hair is cool

LEGO 76245 cons

  • The mech’s hands can’t hold things
  • Poor compatibility between mech and motorcycle
  • The mecha’s hands and feet each lack one joint, so mobility is poor.
  • The tire decoration is only on one side, the front wheel is not orange, and the shape of the motorcycle tire is inconsistent.

LEGO 76245 simple modification

After reading this, you think the conclusion should be like this, it is not worth buying for those who don’t have this LEGO set. Have you put this LEGO set in the corner of the room for a long time? I think the biggest problem is that the compatibility between mech and motorcycle is very poor, so I want to make some simple modifications to solve this problem.

So should I modify the mech or the motorcycles? Modifying the mech seemed relatively simple, so I decided to modify the mech. I wanted to remove the extra bricks, which would increase the mobility of the feet.

After the modification, the lower body of the mech has become thinner, and it seems that the weight loss has been successful.

Then we started to test the effect of the modified mech on riding a motorcycle. The mech’s hands can grasp the motorcycle handle and the posture of riding the motorcycle is relatively normal. I am quite satisfied with this modification.

Conclusion

Although this set has several obvious shortcomings, after modification, there is still the possibility of optimization, but the modified mech is much better, and the Ghost Rider’s head is very cool, and both the mech and the motorcycle are in line with the Ghost Rider image. In terms of price, it is recommended to buy it for less than $32, after all, this set only has one figure and some obvious shortcomings.
