The LEGO Company recently released the 58th LEGO Ideas series set, JAWS. This set will be released to LEGO Insiders on August 3, 2024, and to everyone on August 6, 2024, priced at €149.99 / £129.99 / $149.99. It can be purchased on the official LEGO website and LEGO Store.

This set was designed by LEGO fan designer Johnny Campbell and is themed after the 1975 movie JAWS. There are 1497 pieces in total, including 3 minifigures, namely police Chief Martin Brody, marine biologist Matt Hooper and sailor Sam Quint. There is also an Orca boat and a huge shark. The placement of the shark and minifigures together brings out the hugeness of the shark. From the front, I think the shark’s head is well designed, especially the eyes.

The overall size of the set is measuring 59 cm (23 inches) wide, and 35 cm (14 inches) tall. The shark can be displayed alone or placed with the Orca boat on a sea-shaped base to show the shark attacking the Orca boat. , the base also comes with a tile with Chief Brody’s famous line “You need a bigger ship”, but I feel like you need a bigger space to place the ship, then I feel like you could use a shark of the lower body to make delicious sashimi.

This photo shows the shark very close to Martin Brody. At this point, I really want to tell Martin Brody to run away! Otherwise you will become shark fodder!

This photo shows everyone uniting against the sharks.

The set also features the iconic Orca boat, with a detailed cabin with a removable roof, an adjustable boom and rigging, the cabin is small inside with steering wheel, table, seats and can still accommodate 3 minifigures, you see they are very happy to sit there Together, plus lots of recognisable accessories, such as a revolver, compass, fishing rod, harpoon, spear, and the yellow barrels that were pivotal to the movie plot.
Fan designer Johnny Campbell once revealed JAWS is my favourite movie of all-time, so I really wanted to recreate it in LEGO bricks. LEGO building has always been a part of my life in some shape or form but in order to get all of the finer details, I actually freeze-framed JAWS as I watched it so that I could catch a glimpse of the finer details taking notes as I went along.
It is just mind-blowing that my design is now an official LEGO set. I can’t wait to stand in a LEGO shop looking at the shelves and seeing a set that I have been involved with and watching someone buying it. I think this passage can Use it as a reference for designing MOC.
To celebrate the launch of this LEGO set, the LEGO Group, in partnership with Universal Products & Experiences, has created the first ever summer ‘’brick-buster’’ mini-film, ‘’AWS…in a Jiffy’’,released on July 4, 2024,in homage to the original movie theatrical release date, although the mini-film is only 90 seconds long, it showcases the film’s most popular scenes and features a surprising cameo from LEGO minifigures, intended by director Steven Spielberg It appeared in an unexpected way and gave everyone a big surprise.
This collaboration marks a unique blend of classic cinema and LEGO creativity, making it a must-have for both LEGO enthusiasts and JAWS fans alike. The intricate details and homage to the film’s legacy ensure that this set will be a treasured piece in any collection. The meticulous design work captures the essence of the 1975 classic, from the menacing look of the shark to the faithful recreation of the Orca boat.
Each minifigure is crafted to reflect the iconic characters, bringing the suspense and thrill of the original film to life. The set also includes numerous Easter eggs and references that fans of the movie will appreciate, adding an extra layer of enjoyment.
Whether displayed as a centerpiece or used in imaginative play, this set offers endless possibilities and serves as a testament to the enduring impact of JAWS on popular culture. The collaboration between LEGO and Universal Products & Experiences highlights the innovative ways in which beloved stories can be reimagined, offering fans new ways to engage with their favorite narratives.
